Duro: "I wanted to dedicate the goal to Diakhaby"

THE STRIKER TALKS AFTER HIS WINNER AGAINST GETAFE CF
Hugo Duro's first half goal earned Valencia CF victory against Getafe CF at Mestalla, as his great form continues. He spoke to VCF Media after the final whistle.
Dedicating his goal to Diakhaby
I'm sure that this is the most special goal and win of the season. I hope that Diakhaby is happy wherever he watched it. We miss him a lot, and I am very happy to be able to dedicate the win to him. It's probably the game in which I've had the most desire to score, because I have a good relationship with Diakhaby and I wanted to dedicate it to him. All he does is criticise me and tell me off in training, so I wanted to show him that we'll keep going here, for him. This is for him as well. We have to enjoy it and give him a little bit of joy.

Scoring the goal
The goal wasn't bad. It worked out for me. All of my teammates knew what I was going to do, and I'm very happy.

Good form at Mestalla
It's a source of pride to play here. When you come out here and the fans are chanting your name, it fills you with joy. It makes me emotional.

Competing against Getafe
We knew that Getafe were a team who compete very well. They work very well. They are a simple team, but they do what they do well. It's not easy to compete like we did: Cenk, who hasn't played in a while, had a great game. I'm happy for him, because he needed that. Long may it continue, because we're going to need him a lot. I'm happy for him, because he never stops working. He's a lovely guy who kept out what was almost an equaliser. I'm happy for him.

Taking things game-by-game
We shouldn't change anything. The mentality is to go game-by-game. We shouldn't focus on the opposition and only look at ourselves. We've shown that, at our best, we can compete with any team. We're a strong, defensive team, who run into spaces well, and the moment that we don't think like that it would be a mistake. I love watching the team compete. I was on the bench for ten minutes and it was amazing to watch.
